About the Photographer

Aggelos Barai is an Albanian photojournalist based in Athens, Greece. His work focuses mainly on social issues, human rights and immigration. He collaborates with non-governmental organisations such as Greenpeace, Amnesty International, ICRC, as well as working for magazines, newspapers and the photo agencies. His work has been published by The Guardian, The Washington Post, Le Monde, The Independent, Der Spiegel, Telegraph, CNN, Al Jazeera, and El País.

ALHAJIS FAMILY: Samah Alhajis holds her son at a house their family was placed in through an accommodation program in Athens, Greece. The Alhajis family are among the 11,237 recognized refugees now facing the risk of homelessness in the period of the COVID- 19 pandemic, as they are no longer considered eligible for the accommodation programs for asylum seekers funded by the European Union.
